Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC) is an international network of communications professionals in the fields of climate, energy and nature.
Established in 2012, its philanthropically funded work focuses on media debate and public discourse at the global level and in major economies across Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and the Americas.
Themes covered include climate science and impacts, food and nature, finance and economics, energy, transport, industry, and multilateral climate processes.
GSCC has been operating in Japan since 2016, with Climate Dialogue Japan established in 2020 as a Japan representative.
We work with over 200 partner organizations from a wide range of sectors, both domestically and internationally, in the fields of science, health, business, industry, finance, academia, politics and civil society.

With expertise in Japan's climate sector, her career encompasses key roles at an environmental policy advocacy organization, a government-affiliated think tank, and the secretariat of a corporate alliance advancing decarbonization initiatives. She also holds a leadership position at International Climate Politics Hub, an informal diplomatic advisory service, where she facilitates strategic partnerships in climate policies in the country. As the founder of Climate Dialogue Japan, she has been spearheading GSCC activities in Japan since 2016.

During her extensive career spanning over 15 years in broadcast journalism, she has produced news programs and documentaries for major media outlets. Her expertise extends to domestic and international media marketing for local governments. She was honored with the National Association of Commercial Broadcasters in Japan Award in the Educational Television Program category in 2009.
A guide for journalists: Reporting extreme weather and climate change
The Japanese version of a reporting guidebook for journalists covering extreme weather events and climate change. The guidebook was developed by World Weather Attribution (WWA), an international group of scientists that provides rapid analyses of the effects of climate change on extreme weather events around the world.

Extreme Weather and Climate Change: An Analysis of Global News Coverage
A comparative analysis of media coverage examining the relationship between extreme weather events and climate change has been released, highlighting distinct reporting patterns across major news organizations. The study, focusing on leading media outlets in Japan, the US, the UK, and Germany, revealed that Japanese media associated extreme weather events with climate change in approximately one-third of cases, notably lower than their Western counterparts.
